Promoting the Message of Divine Mercy.

Jesus chose Sr. Maria Faustina “to make known to souls the great mercy that I have for them, and to exhort them to trust in the bottomless depth of My mercy.” (Diary, 1567) He told her, “I am sending you with My mercy to the people of the whole world. …I desire to heal it, pressing it to My merciful Heart.” (Diary, 1588)

Divine Mercy of the Rockies carries on the mission entrusted to Sr. Faustina by promoting the message of Divine Mercy throughout the region. We do this by presenting talks and seminars to priests, deacons, parishes, schools, and organizations; collaborating with existing ministries; and providing informational and prayer resources such as brochures, prayer cards, and books.

Fostering mercy in Prayers, Words, and Deeds.

Jesus said to Sr. Faustina, “My daughter, …I am giving you three ways of exercising mercy toward your neighbor: the first — by deed, the second — by word, the third— by prayer. In these three degrees is contained the fullness of mercy, and it is an unquestionable proof of love for Me. By this means a soul glorifies and pays reverence to My mercy.” (Diary, 742)

On April 28, 2019, the late Bishop Michael J. Sheridan formalized our commitment to fostering mercy in prayer, words, and deeds by consecrating the Diocese of Colorado Springs to Divine Mercy. We endeavor to fulfill that obligation by:

• Loaning parishes the relics of St. Faustina, St. John Paul II, and Blessed Michael Sopocko.

• Offering families Home Enthronements to Jesus, the Divine Mercy.

• Organizing pilgrimages to Lithuania and Poland, where devotion to Divine Mercy began.

• Helping form and supporting Divine Mercy Cenacles.

• Celebrating Divine Mercy Sunday with Mass at St. Mary Cathedral.

• Sponsoring the Sunday Youth Vigil the evening before Divine Mercy Sunday.

Establishing a Divine Mercy of the Rockies Shrine and Center for Research and Education.

The Divine Mercy of the Rockies Shrine is a long-term goal of Divine Mercy of the Rockies. Bishop Golka supports this initiative. The Divine Mercy of the Rockies board is in touch with both the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy and the Sisters of the Merciful Jesus. Sisters from both congregations have visited the Diocese of Colorado Springs.

Our prayer is that one of these congregations of Sisters will operate the Divine Mercy of the Rockies Shrine and share the message of Divine Mercy through parish ministry, adult apostolate, and programs for children and young people.

The Center for Research and Education is an even longer-term aspiration. We hope to collaborate with academic and research institutions in studying, developing educational materials and resources, and providing workshops and continuing education related to Divine Mercy.
