CONSECRATION OF THE DIOCESE OF COLORADO SPRINGS TO DIVINE MERCY
During a Mass at St. Mary Cathedral on Divine Mercy Sunday, April 28th, 2019, His Excellency, Bishop Michael Sheridan, consecrated the Diocese of Colorado Springs to Divine Mercy. The Mass was concelebrated with Fr. Michael Goodyear, Director of Divine Mercy of the Rockies and Divine Mercy Ministries of the Diocese of Colorado Springs.
In his homily, the late Bishop Sheridan said that “Today’s feast has a message that our world desperately needs to hear. And it comes from the Maker of the universe itself. It is the message of His Mercy and His Love.”
Bishop Sheridan went on to say that the message God wanted to give to the world was not simply one of words, but that of a Person – His Son, Jesus Christ – His Word made flesh for the salvation of the world.
St. Faustina heard the same message from Christ:
“My Mercy is greater than your sins and those of the entire world. Who can measure the extent of my goodness? For you I descended from heaven to earth; for you I allowed myself to be nailed to the Cross; for you I let my Sacred Heart be pierced with a lance, thus opening wide the source of mercy for you. Come, then, with trust to draw graces from this fountain. I never reject a contrite heart. Your misery has disappeared in the depths of my mercy. Do not argue with me about your wretchedness. You will give me pleasure if you hand over to me all your troubles and griefs. I shall heap upon you the treasures of My grace." (Diary 1485)
Guided by God’s will, Divine Mercy of the Rockies plans to promote the message of Divine Mercy; foster mercy in prayers, words, and deeds; establish a Divine Mercy of the Rockies Shrine; and create a Center for research and education.
